100% finnish

I'm on my way to become officially a Finnish citizen.

Today I am going to test my Swedish language knowledge, it is a written/spoken test that last about 4 hours! Yeah...240 minutes long!

If I pass, then I'll get a certificate and then I have to apply for the citizenship.

So why Swedish if I live in Finland? Well, in Finland there is 2 official languages: Finnish and Swedish, swedish speaking Finns are only a minority ( 6 % of all Finnish population )

If I get to be a Finnish citizen, I'll have two nationalities, hot Peruvian and cold Finn :D very opposites right? :D

Let's see if I pass this test, now I only need to wait about 8 weeks to know the results.

Capital city visit

Now is 

Monday, I can't believe this mini trip is over.

Time goes by fast when you are having fun!

But it was enough with three days, I guess I couldn't manage to get used to again in living in a crowded city anymore.

Many would say that they couldn't live in the country side, I did think that way before but after living there for a few years I would not change it for anything right now, the quietness, its silence, it's clean,  it's safe, etc.

But both ways:  living in the city and the countryside has its plus & minus. Nothing is never black and white.

Well, yeah, while being here with mom, we did the touristy thing :D taking a tour bus, taking pictures, going shopping... ( a bit too much maybe :D )

On Sunday we did an extra something I always wanted to do since I have lived here,  going to a live dancing tv show, you know Dancing with the stars? Yeah, they have it on here also,  weird to hear about Finnish people dancing?  
Well, they do can dance, not everyone with a good rythm :) but other ones really good.

So we got the tickets from my lovely friends who works in the media and got in! Saw a few Finnish julkkis ( celebrities ) some that I knew, some I didn't at all... Saw these participants dance, the band played excellent as always, got the oportunity to talk with one of my favorite dance teacher, got a few remembering pictures and thats it!

Dream came true! :)  I actually dreamed last night :D I saw a lot of people ! And a toilet! ( I wanted to go to the wc during the show, but you get just a few minutes, and all the wcs were busy every time so I had to hold in : D )

Now, we go back home,  the two hours trip is not fun! But we will stop by Perniö Mauri Makasiini kirppis so we can stretch tve legs a little bit and find one or two hidden treasures.

Babies babies babies

I have had " baby fever " since my last boy was born.

I said while I was pregnant with him, that It was going to be last child, but after he was born, and was on my arms, I knew and felt that it couldn't be my last child, my last pregnancy.

I have been longing for a third child forever ( a little girl-in secret ) but even if it's a boy, I'll be soo happy! He has already a name...♥

Lately, around my friends, there has been a baby-boom...babies after babies, some getting their girls after boys, and boys after having a girls ( which makes me feel in a good way jealous!) That they got their "best of both worlds" :/
And some getting a third child! Many people I know are getting their third child, it seems to be like 3 is the new 2.

According to a survey in Sweden, they talked about it, 3 is the new 2, specially more in parents who have 2 children of the same sex...like me :D

Either way, 5 feels perfect, a full hand, mom, dad and three children♥

I just leave this up to Him, our dear God, He'll do whats best for us, and everything will be beautiful at "Its" right time.

Exciting news!

:D no no, I am not pregnant ( I wish )

The day my mom and I are going to Helsinki is just around the corner ( next week ) I am sooo excited!

We'll do sightseeing, shopping, a possibly trip to Estonia and a secret & super exciting thing I always wanted to do!

Still alive

I knew I was not going to be an everyday blogger :) I told you so...

Well, nothing "new " has happened, it has just been the same routine as every day.

Something new it could be that I have started to walk outside, I am not at all a work out type, I am more the " couch potato " woman...so I am quite proud for myself... I am doing it for my health, my heart and if it helps me to go down a bit of weight, then great!

My children are healthy, thanks God.

Life with Mr. M ( my hubby ) goes up and down...we seem to find each others fails and always argue about it...instead of focusing of the good. Well, I guess we are not the only one couple who goes through those moments, right?

The day that I am coming to Helsinki with my mom is getting near and near and it gets me at the same time excited but worried... I think about my small boys, if they will miss me too much... I am not worried about Mr.M ... maybe one of his dreams will come true...to be a few days without a "damn bitch " who only complains.

I'm also worried about how our home will be when I come back...I mean how dirty, how messy will be. Will I find a huuge pile with unwashed dishes and clothes...sticky floor... arghhh...did I mention that I vacuum our floor everyday? I can not see pieces, hairs, dirt and sand on the floors...specially under our beds.

So pleeease!  I want to have a nice and clean house when I come back....maybe Mr. M will apreciate a bit more everything I do at home? I hope so!

Well, tomorrow I'll go to the "mom & child" group that's organized by the municipality...hopefully It won't be a terrible weather as they have promised a hard storm.

Acne medication follow up

The stinging on my skin has gone, there is just some peeling, and still get some breakouts.

I'm continuing to apply Differin 0,3 mg every evening.

Hopefully it will help.

About my PCOS, after being "mens-free " for three months - thanks to my 14 day  Terolut pill intake - I got my period. So I'm hoping to start having regular periods after this.

Chanel dreaming...

First of all...I don't want to be judged... I am me, you are you...everyone is different. 

I don't want to hear, but what a cold person just thinks on bags, while there is more important things in life.  Yeah yeah I know!  I know and I am thankful to have healthy children, I am thankful of having a bed to sleep, food to eat, clothes to keep me warm. I am not saying I am not thankful... but a dream is a dream, it might become reality or not but let me dream!

So any of you my friends, readers...do you have a "material " dream? 

 - I know some men might dream of having a Ferrari...

 - I gotta a friend who dreams about having an Hermes bag.

 - I know some dream about winning the lottery.

My dream is to have a Chanel bag, I don't know why but I love it. Somehow being French makes it so classy and exquisite, classic and timeless.

Helsinki tourist

After living here for over 5 years! I will now be able to visit and sightsee Helsinki for the first time!

I will be a real tourist :D visit museums, main streets, port, etc. I already have a written list of the places I'll go... I'll take lots of pictures.

It will be a exciting experience for me and my mother, she is also living here for a few months now and we haven't been able to have a mom/daughter quality time together like we used to have when I was in Peru.

So, I am counting the days!!! ...However...

This will be the first time in 5 years as well to be a whole 4 days without my children!

Part of me thinks it will be sooo cool to be children free! But at the same time I guess I will cry every night because I miss them so much. 

:/  so bitter and sweet...

On the other hand, I haven't had a time for myself since i became a mother. And I do deserve it! 

:/ but again...comes the mommy guilty feelings... how can I leave my children for a whole weekend?...

But then again... ohhhh...how much I am going to enjoy just to do things between adults, eating without having to feed, clean mouths,  going to the toilet without checking on diapers... going to shop or do window shopping for hours without worrying that one of my small ones went and ran away to the elevators or electric stairs...

Oh well... I'll have a good time and I will do miss my little naughty boys so much, bit this will do good to mamma and to them ( including the dad ) to realize how it is to be in charge of the children, house, etc. And to learn to appreciate everything the mother does at home. 

I am just a bit worried and hopefully I will come back to a nice, clean and tidy house :)  

I am having some flashs...vision...images...in my head... I see dishes every everywhere...food on the floor, pieces of bread, clothes and towels on the bed, toys all over the place, balls of dust under the bed, pieces of s...t on the toilet... :D 100 kilos of sand on the entry hall, food rests on the living room table, popcorn and chocolate pieces on the carpet...

Arghhhh... Am I ready to all of this???

I have cleaning OCD

Mom: No Dad: Yes

That is one of the things that get nerves and liver explode, when one parent says Yes and the other No or viceversa.

If one of our children have not eaten, I said, well, you'll have to wait until tomorrow to get food again, you will have to learn to learn to feel "hungry" so next time you will eat everything.  Dad comes, and he agrees, you won't get anything else because you have not eaten!

Later on, my children get something to eat in spite of what we agreed.

What are they going to learn next time? That mommy and daddy's word aren't serious.

Mom ends up looking like a mean fool mother, and dad, like a fool that doesn't stick to his promises either.

Christmas is coming and so is the despair...

wise words :D

It's almost 2 months before christmas! Can you believe it? I can't. This year has been so busy with work that I haven't been able to even look at the calendar.

My older son will turn 5 on New Years Eve. 5 years! I was only 23 when I was pregnant with him, I was young, almost a teenager :D now I feel old, momly old, I feel like almost turning 40!

Mmmm...but then when I think about it real good... my pregnancy timing could not have been better! I'm only 29 with two children...young hot & sexy mom ( forget the two last adjectives, just trying to get my self-esteem a bit higher :D ) ...

Why am I talking all this stuff when I was supposed to write about shopping and christmas presents?

Hormones talking... :D yeah it might be them :D now talking about Hormones...I got my period today...finally a period after being three months "blood-free"
Why? You wonder...It's because the PCO syndrome I have. What is it? ---> Google it!

It is just too long to write about it... I am just one of the lucky ones (not)  to have it.

So, after three months of the period to be gone...now It is back thanks to the 14 day hormone cure I had to take.

I hope that my period will get regular now. So I can feel somehow " healthy "

According to my doctor, the maximum time to be period free is three months, after that one has to be checked out to see if everything with your body is fine.

So girls, watch out!

So yeah, christmas presents...my wishlist is waaaaay out of reach :D it would be like if my husband would wish for a Ferrari car...so...back to reality...

Rocoto chili

Finally the rocoto chilies I rescued from its frozen plant are ready!

I put them on a dark place covered by a black plastic bag...and they turned red! Now I got chili for the winter, can't wait to make ceviche with rocoto...mmmmmm...

Acne treatment

As I said in my previous post, I decided not to take Isotretinol to cure my acne.
So I started two days ago with a cream that I'll apply on my face on the evenings.

Today is the second day and I can see some drying out and peeling off.

So I can't wait to see some results.

Autumn shopping

For a while ago I've been debating on getting high heeled boots for the autumn/winter.
I found a pair from Vagabond, model named " Varlyn " but Unfortunately the model was sold out everywhere!  Its price put me down a bit ( 99 euros ) not a fan to spend that much on a pair of shoes ( specially after getting many pairs of new real leather shoes for under 50 euros... so I kept looking...

Checked at Zalando.fi ( I check that page almost every day :D ) and found a pair that I liked.

- Real leather
-Zipper on the side
-High heel maybe 9 cm?
- Platform sole

Price was 69,95..but if your order is above 50 euros you get a 10% off... not much but still a discount.

So I got them today, tried them on, despite the high heel, it was super comfortable!

Pollo a la Brasa / Peruvian style grilled chicken /Bras kyckling

One of the most eaten dishes in Peru after ceviche ( fish marinated in lemon juice ) is Pollo a la brasa.

Pollo a la brasa restaurants in Lima you find at every corner almost.

It's simple but delicious!

There is no way to compare this grilled chicken with the one that you buy at the supermarkets here in Finland.  Every time I get chicken, I wash away all the orange marinate...and make my own.

No well...no more words, here it is the recipe:

- 2 whole chickens ( I always buy the one frozen with white Plastic bag )
- 500 gr ( 1/2 kilo salt )
-8 teskedar svart öl
-3 teskedar vinager
-2 teskedar kumin/cumin
-3 teskedar black pepper
-lite paprika to give a little of color
-rosmarin

Get a big bowl with water and add the salt...mix it until salt is gone...add the whole chickens under the salty water for 30 minutes. Meanwhile you prepare the marinade.

Mix all the rest of ingredients...take away the chickens from the salty water and add this marinade, put some inside the chicken and on top, under the skin...USE YOUR HANDS! Marinade all over!

Put the chickens on an oven plate, for 180 C degrees... for about 2 hours...then when it is ready...put the oven fan ( grill mode ) so the skin turns crunchy.

Voila!

We eat the pollo a la brasa with french fries, chili sauce and sallad.

Delicious!

Decision taken...

After so much thinking and after reading the very dangerous side effects of Isotetrinol ( Accutane ) I have decided not to risk my health and won't be taking this cure for my acne.

I asked the doctor for another option, I got today a  topic cream that I will apply on my affected parts every night. I read also the side effects: cracking, redness, dry skin, itching, stigning... I will have to deal with those but at least this cream's side effects are not going to destroy my liver or intestines.

Hopefully this cream will help me, Im tired of my inflamated red chin  with many white spots...arghhh...but in the end...it's just acne...there are many more accute sicknesses...and I should be thankful...yes...Linda....thankful!

However, I am not going to deny that acne attacks not only your outside but your inside...your self-esteem...your mood.. and even lead to depression...

Well...I'll write about if the cream is working or not. I am not yet willing to put a picture...it's just too embarrasing :( sorry!

Decisions

The ones that know me, have seen that I have acne, yes, not only normal acne but rosacea acne, my brother and dad had it too so i guess it is in our genes.

Lately, my acne has started to get worse and it is non-stop specially around my chin area. Acne is a very disturbing disease, not only affects you in the physical part but also affects your self-esteem and even causes you depression.

So I needed to do something about it, for 2 years ago I got some medication, worked for a little while but after stopping the pills it came again :(

So I went to the dermatologist last week and we will start the strong medication, the name is Isotretinol or something like that....but I have mixed thoughts:

-Will It really help? ( I have PCO as well...so it could be my acne is caused by it too )
-Will it destroy my liver?

My brother took the medication for 6 months, and it helped him.

Is there any of you who have taken this medicine, did it help? Did you get some health problems after that?

I'm getting so stressed :( 

Meanwhile, I will just cover my horrible face with makeup.

Hot chilies Cold Finland

I got some chili seeds from Peru...we planted them outside, but we didnt know how long it would take for the flowers to turn into chilies...it took a loong time, sadly the temperatures for a few nights were below zero so our plants practically died frozen :(

So, it took all the green chilies from the frozen plant and put them in a dark place, hopefully they will get ready and don't get bad or rotten :(

Otherwise, I have to save the seeds and plant them one or two months earlier, so they can enjoy the sun longer!

Carrot cake

Carrot cake it is my childrens favorite cake, also mine. With a Philadelphia cream cheese frosting on top....mmmmmm...

Simple recipe and super delicious!

1 kilo carrots
3 eggs
1 cup of sugar
2 cups of flour
1 1/2 oil
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
Vanilla
Cinammon
Nut muscatte? Nuez moscada:D ( sorry dont know the english name )

Just mix and whisp the eggs and sugar until its creamy, add the dry ingredients, blend, alternate with the oil, blend, add carrots, ready to the oven at 180 C for 40 minutes.

After the cake is cold, put some frosting on! just mix Philadelphia cheese, with flour sugar, butter and Vanilla, whisp all ingredients until is fluffy :)

I finally got our "autumn" kitchen curtains in beige color, cheap but lovely ones.

First autumn frost

Autumn is finally here...althought it felt like winter...super cold and hard wind...our chili plants are almost dead...hopefully the remaining chilies will survive so I can freeze them and use them to make Peruvian food during the winter.

Tuco & Tico have been inside...they still have  the flu, right now they are playing with lego, they play so good together...ahhh...so now can momma finally rest and watch some tv, just lie down and relax...

Kirppis/loppis/Second-hand stores

I'd like to remember how many things I have found in a "kirppis" but I just cant name all of them.

I wasnt a big fan of Second-hand stores in Lima, I guess I went maybe 2 o 3 times...but just found very old and dirty clothes...so when I heard about "kirppis " here in Finland..I thought...usch how can people go to those places :D
Well, now...I consider second-hand stores as my drug :D can't get enough of them...It doesnt mean I need to buy something every time I go...but just to search and search and find hidden treasures is what makes it exciting.

What I look after in a kirppis right now are:

- Old porcelain dishes ( Arabia mainly, a Finnish porcelain brand )
- Old metal/Steel dishes...love to decorate my home with them...
-Old sheets and line hand towels
-Old alpakka ( type of silver ) forks, spoons, etc
-Clothes for me and my family...but good quality brands ( Gant, Hilfiger, Esprit )
-Shoes ( Ecco, Vagabond )

Just thinking about the treasures one can find there...makes me wanna go right away... :) its almost midnight and Tuco has been up all the time...might be the flu...or just fooling around :/

I wonder how we will manage to get the boys to sleep in their own bed at their own bedroom :/

I am woman, mother and wife originally from Lima, Peru. Moved to Finland in 2007 because I met the "love" of my life ...why "" because if you are married you know the feeling when you are just sooo crazy in love but after being married for a few years...you drive each other crazyyyy and sometimes you wonder why the hell you got married  :D

Oh well, a few will understand me...

So, now its 2013, Mr. M and I have two small boys age (Tuco 5 and Tico 3 ), we live in an Island in the south of Finland, and we work in a family company.

I don't know what else I could write about myself...

I love to read blogs, interior design magazines, celebrities, fashion, antique furniture.

My to do list is to have a third child ...which is planned in a couple of years. ( maybe! According to Mr.M )

My hope is to have a happy &healthy family,  to continue to have a job ( eventhough is stressful during season time ) to finally have more closed friends ( having friends when you are coming from another country is so difficult :/ )

My dream ( materially thinking )to win lotto , to travel around the world, to have a honeymoon in Bora Bora and to buy a Chanel Jumbo flapbag in caviar with GHD  ;)
